Well... you know how I asked you and your chief engineer to customize a shuttle that will keep wisps from getting in or out? Turns out about 5 hitched a ride inside the test subject, so I've beem corraling them for the last hour and now my containment device tells me there's a cat-shaped spirit around. Not a curiosity wisp but another.
Pretty sure something broke in transport. But if you find yourself missing some items, let me know. Might be our spirit.
We did. What I think happened is these 5 were already aboard or they hitched a ride on my stuff and I didn't know it. Which suggests I need something that makes me an inhospitable host before I board. Which may be more magic than technology, so I'll get to work on that one.
They're wisps of curiosity and everything I am is one big unanswered question. They love my notes and everything I do. The teacup is fine. I made sure of it. Might need a final tweak on the shuttle's containment field, though.
The cat, though... not sure what emotion it is. If you happen to find it before I do, send it back towards the shuttle bay?
Wait, you should be able to tweak the scan for decon to pick up if there's any wisps on entry into the shuttle with the right resonance frequency. That would save some time.
I'll keep an eye out here but no reports so far.
[Because it is happily rooting through Jim's belongings in his quarters but that's a problem for Future Jim.]
Good stopgap for now, but I'd like to have an enchantment that keeps them from hopping a ride in the first place. I still don't know how much Federation technology actually affects them.
Could be good, could be bad. Hard to pinpoint locations when basically everything on the ship is new to these wisps. Assuming it's curiosity or another close emotion... that still doesn't narrow anything down. It's not on my shuttle any longer and that's all I know. I'll see if I can recalibrate a few things to pick up its trail.
Well it's a big ship so odds are decent it's not anywhere dangerous but I'd like to track it down ASAP all the same. Gonna have folks check the labs and Engineering right away and then spread out from there.
Good start. I'll send a containment unit your way so you can capture it if you find it before I do.
If I'm honest, given the type of spirits I tend to attract, I'm more concerned with it accidentally damaging your ship. And then your chief engineer will have my head.
Oh believe me, every time this happens I imagine what the brass would do to it. Still not sure it can even survive outside our artificial atmosphere. Would the vacuum of space kill it? Probably, but I don't want to find out.
Tried a few of my usual baits. Case notes, baubles, things I know they like at home. Hasn't worked yet. Think they're more interested in what they don't usually see. You and yours might have better luck with PADDs left to unfinished notes or something.
Well that'd put the labs at a higher risk. That or.
[The one place on the ship where unfinished paperwork congregates. Neve doesn't get a reply for a while and not from Jim. Eventually what she gets is a holopic taken of Jim with his hands on his hips staring down at a feline spirit that's made a nest of his uniform shirts and various PADDs from Dr. McCoy.]

Cat week? cat week
Or. It's back to the drawing board. How the hell did you end up attracting more? He's going to be beside himself if they broke his teacup.
cat week! \o/

I'd still much rather have it aboard then the wider fleet getting ahold of the poor thing.
Have you considered leaving bait out for them?

I'll be right there with a containment unit. Try not to frighten it off before I get there.

Captain's locked in a battle of wills with it and appears to be losing. Or a staring contest. I've never seen a creature look so gd smug in my life.
