midnight texting

The Midnight Texting Meme It's the middle of the night and you're trying to catch some z's — or brooding alone in the alleys, as one does — when your phone dings and suddenly a stranger or a friend is texting you. What could they possibly want at this hour? Is it important? Stupid? Are they drunk or maybe just needy? ● Post with your character's name and canon on the subject line, indicate preferences as needed |

A little bit of both.
Sleep is just time I'll never get back. I'd rather be doing something.

[ Her current customer is starting to show signs of boredom himself, though. Probably best to get back to him. ]
I need to go try and win this bet. Will you still be up in a few hours?
no subject
Go ahead and keep my share. Or use it to buy your friend a book on anatomy.

[ Some hours pass. Bella does her work. She enjoys herself more than she doesn't, in the end; admittedly, her client is no more reciprocal than he was over drinks, but that's not unexpected, and Bella has gotten fairly good at getting her pleasure out of a job done well rather than any physical act. She might complain about it to her actual co-workers later, that's all.
It's more of a problem that he leaves as soon as the scene is over. That's also not unexpected. It's a lot more uncomfortable than bad conversation, though. She's physically tired, hazy with the adrenaline come-down, faintly lonely, too wired to sleep. ]
Couldn't collect from the guy
At least its a moral victory

I'm guessing the irony that you didn't just "listen" to his garbage went right past him.
no subject
Are you working?

Speaking of, I landed a buyer for the auscultation device. The one you helped me demonstrate at the expo. I plan to share the wealth the next time I'm in town.
no subject
You are generous. You did all the work.
I just sat there and batted my eyelashes and thought about your hands
no subject
I don't suppose you remember any of those thoughts.

The flirtation -- maybe more importantly, the attention, even at a distance -- is pushing away the uncomfortable post-scene restlessness. It's nice to settle down. That doesn't change that she's tired, and she has to pause to consider how much she can offer here.
Enough, she decides. It helps that she has thought about this off and on since the expo. Besides, if she has to tap out, she has the late hour to blame, and the promise of more to come next time he's in town. She types, not paying too much attention to punctuation, just a little to craft. ]
I kept wondering if anyone was going to notice because my heart would get faster
You were talking to someone while this guy and his friend listened to my heart, and I kept thinking about the way you touched my ears
Is that strange? To be turned on by you touching my ears?
It's how you did it though. Like you wanted to be careful with me then
When the guys left, you shook hands with them, and I wondered what they'd think if they knew your fingers had been in my cunt and my mouth last night
Let alone that they were going to be there again later
Athat was when I took a break. I was worried I was blushing.
no subject
You weren't blushing but you did have a certain look on your face.
I thought you might have spotted someone you knew, another lonesome doctor.
If I'd known that was the reason for it, I'd had to have taken a break myself.
Maybe with you, in the nearest closet.
no subject
I think sneaking off to fuck in a closet would have been bad for your sales numbers. Fun though.
no subject
I'd like to hear what sounds you make when you're trying not to make any.
no subject
I'm up for the challenge if you are
no subject
You're a local. I'll let you choose what restaurant we may never be allowed into again.
no subject
Shit
I'm sorry about that, I'm tired and my phone is rude.
no subject
Thank God.
Pick something out. I'll order it.

If I ever actually call you that you've got my permission to call me Izzy.
[ Izzy, diminutive for Isabella. She tends to avoid using her full first name, for a number of reasons -- she can't entirely remember at the moment if she's told Hap what Bella is short for. Might have. It would have gone along naturally with conversation about what he preferred to be called. (Hap has certainly not been given her real last name; if needed, she's used Jones, generic and obviously fake. A solid door between her self and her job, past and present, private and purchasable.) ]
I'll do some research in the morning
Don't be afraid to make requests if you see something you like yourself.
no subject
You'll probably get to it before I do.
I will say I'd like something a little more fully featured than just an on/off switch.

Or dream about them, if you can get some sleep.

[ He considers telling her it was nice talking to her, then decides against it. ]
Goodnight.
