You’ve got your TFLN, you’ve got your sexting, now here’s the meme for all those gen texts, phone calls, voicemails, pictures of your cats, and whatever else your little heart can come up with, because who doesn't like a little old fashioned friendly texting. (Or enemy texting, if that's more your bag.)

[ Kate shifts a bit, too, leans over Yelena a bit. She has some good height on her, and right now half curls around Yelena as if that's gonna shield her. Just... comfort. She cups Yelena's face in her hands, raises it up to make eye contact. Kisses a soft cheek for good measure. For all of Yelena's sharpness, there is such softness to her, and Kate just wishes the world treated her in a way that was more mindful of that softness, to let it flourish rather than crush it underfoot. ]
What you did was sweet. Maybe... a touch backwards with the stealing the phone and pretending to be Bucky and all that, and you should definitely at some point fess up about that. But I mean, you just wanted to help them be happy. It sounds like Sam was all on board.
[ Kate sighs, rakes a hand through her own hair. What a situation. Complicated doesn't begin to cut it. ]
Do you think you'd have asked me out if someone had set this up for you? Maybe you would have gotten spooked, too. Hell, I think even I would've felt some performance anxiety. And I got to be a regular person my whole life, stupid dating history included.
[ Kate wrinkles her nose briefly. ]
It's not your fault. It sucks, but it's not on you. You did a really nice thing, and you just wanted two idiot boys to smooch their feelings out. Some points docked for pretending to be Bucky, but also I get it, it's a cute idea. Very parent trap, honestly.

That may not be exactly true, but honestly, she’s still pretty new in this friendship with him, still learning the limits, and oh fuck, what if she’s already pushed it past breaking?
She curls deeper against Kate again, burying her face against her shoulder.]
I don’t know what to do… [She murmurs rather miserably, as she turns her head so her cheek is against Kate’s shoulder.]

[ She turns Yelena's face up to hers, tender and sweet, thumbs catching those tears. ]
If it were you, wouldn't you want to know that somebody cared enough about you to try and make you happy? And wouldn't you want to have the choice to be angry, or to forgive them?

What makes you say that? [Her voice is shaky, but the words come out clear enough regardless.] Do you know him? Have you ever met him, Kate? He's so good, down into the core, I- maybe it is better if he does push me away. I will only stain his hands with the blood on mine... [She looks up as Kate tilts her face toward her, her eyes are bright and full of tears and she swallows through it all.] Maybe you should run away from me, too, while you still can...
[Her voice is... so sweet, and for a moment, that is all that she can focus on. She sniffs twice and manages the world's weakest smile for a second or two before it disappears again.]
...yes. He deserves the choice. Everybody should have choices... [Even though the idea of coming clean to Sam makes her stomach twist uncomfortably, she knows. She knows Kate is right. Of course, she is. She's so much better at being a person than Yelena. She knows all the secrets to how friendships are supposed to go.]
