The Night Market

Even as the sky gets dark, there's still a lot of lights and life all over this busy street full of people. Vendors and customers from all over come to share and appreciate their creations, taking in this lively atmosphere. Eat, drink, be merry - but watch out for pickpockets and price gouging.

Rules:

1. Comment with your characters. Feel free to specify if they're a vendor/merchant, performer, or someone just here to enjoy the market.
2. Hang out, meet new people, laugh at the bootleg toys, and stuff your faces with good food and drinks.

[He's probably here for a job, though he might just be people-watching. Chances are he's A: in disguise so he can actually interact with people (in which case he looks nothing like himself) or B: can only be seen by folks who have had a near-death experience or are otherwise sensitive to The Unknown (psychics and very young kids and the like)

[If this is Cloud City's market district, she's probably wandering around in a business cape, schmoozing, kissing babies and the like, but if it's somewhere else she's either got her cargo ship set up as a casino or a non-denominational temple, depending on the location.]

[Depending on the size of the market, he might be busking on his own, or if they're big enough for real live music, he's got his whole band -Manifest Destiny- playing a set. Either way he's got merch!]

[She's probably out there pickpocketing like it's her job (it kind of is) or reverse-pickpocketing, which is to say leaving her calling card (Antiques & Antiquities Relocated For Reasonable Fees!) in people's pockets or bags.
She might also be running a 3 Card Monte table, and she's relatively good at that as well.]

[Market night out in the Zones is a whole thing. Has to be after that big ball of radiation we call 'the sun' has gone down just so nobody gets radiation poisoning, and it's way out where they won't get spotted by city drones right away.
It's some combination of swap meet and trunk sale with live music and games of all sorts. People are having a good time, but they're all prepared to scatter or fight at the first sign of an Exterminator or a squad of Dracs.]

[She's definitely got a booth set up, OOAK fashion pieces (like ponchos that make you look like you're a mushroom, purses that look like a TV dinner and hats made of clear colored vinyl to look like stained glass and the like) and little knickknacks like little hermit crab figurines with human skulls for shells, or snails with all kinds of things for shells, or critters made out of gears and bent utensils and glass beads. She'll also take orders for custom pieces, as well.]

[he's likely here to go shopping for stupid stuff, although maybe dethklok got roped into performing at this thing for some reason, who knows. either way he'll probably leave with about a million bootleg toys. look at those things. they're brutal.

[ She's browsing, excitedly taking in all her surroundings. It's a full on experience for all the senses, and Claire wants to take in as much as she can. ]

[ How about another electric themed teenager who can eat up a storm?

Because down a few stalls, someone is ordering one of everything. ]

[Generating electricity burns some serious calories that need replenishing!!

This night market is practically as busy and lively as any of its daylight counterparts, but through a lull Pao-Lin can hear someone calling out for some delicious-sounding nomz. Curious, she wanders over to the stall that Sebek is haunting and peers at both the ready-to-go wares and the menu for freshly-made street food. If Sebek has anything edible already in hand, she'll be eyeing that too.

(Don't worry, she's not planning on stealing his eats from him. She's amassed a small armful of snacks already, herself.)]

[ There are chicken skewers being roasted, and some noodles are being tossed in a wok. There's even a wood fire pizza being made.

Sebek currently has a donut, freshly fried and still steaming in the night air. He blows on it a moment before taking a bite and letting more steam rise. Fried dough with a light dusting of sugar and cinnamon never looked so good. ]

Ooh, where'd you get that donut?

[She doesn't see it on the menu at this stall, which anyway looks like it's more of a savory spot than a sweet one. But the night market can be full of surprises.]

[ He points to the stall right next to this one, hidden by a huge banner belonging to this stall that has its menu. ]

The stall next door has many different types of donuts and makes more every fifteen minutes! Watch in wonder at the skillful creation of these delectable treats!

[Ah, she sees it now! The bakers next door are just visible through the fabric and lattice of improvised wooden frames, hard at work on their latest creations. Not only do the final results look delicious, but making them seems pretty fun too.]

Wow... This place is really amazing! Do you come here a lot?

[ Sebek doesn't take it as a pickup line. He wouldn't recognize it as such, and food is in front of him. The only thing that could distract him from his meal is anything related to Malleus or Diasomnia, neither of which are here and now. ]

Not at all, but that will soon change. I will tell everyone I know of this place and try to come here on the weekends when I do not have school or my other duties.

[While he leaves the school rarely - if never - he’s certainly hanging around, taking in the sights and people. Maybe a donut goes missing from a random vendor’s stand, or you happen to somehow bump into him despite the amount of people he has just floated through.]
