For Surge's part, she mostly wanted to show off. It's not like she wanted to impress Amy, specifically, or anything, she just wasn't sure if Amy was totally convinced of all how cool and powerful Surge was. Sparring seemed like a total waste of energy otherwise. Couldn't hurt to get a better look at her moves, but Kit wasn't even watching to analyze it.
