Only one bed?!

[This is an appropriate time and situation to be cracking jokes, right?]
no subject
[Okay, that joke gets a snicker out of him. It seems to break the irritated spell that had been over him too, and he considers Viktor for a moment.]
You seem to know a bit about teleporting, so if you can break this curse on me then I wouldn't mind stayin' the night.
[His primary job only happens a handful of times throughout the year, so it's not like he has anywhere to be tomorrow.]
no subject
[Viktor huffs at the last comment. Stayin' the night, huh? His hands fold over his lap and long fingers loosely intertwine, keeping themselves busy,]
You're very forward, aren't you? As if I have already decided to let you stay.
[the softness in Viktor's voice belies the fact that he would not kick a man in need out, but the illusion of a strong front is one he'll tease,]
no subject
[And he will use science if it means getting rid of this curse.
As for the rest-]
You woulda kicked me out already if that's what you wanted. But you're too interested in magic, aren't ya?
no subject
[Viktor really can't deal with being suddenly teleported to the top of a mountain, okay. He prefers teleportation be extremely, rigorously predictable.]
I am a scientist, not a mage. Are you volunteering to be my test subject? [buy him a drink first, they only just met]
no subject
[He will just fuck off if the 'tests' get too extreme, but a shot at removing this curse is worth taking.]
Havin' a wizard on hand would benefit you too, I bet. Even the most simple of spells are super-helpful in everyday life.
no subject
And is this also ordinary for you? To offer magic to any man whose bed you've ended up in...
no subject
Nah, beds come and go. But removin' a curse, now that's something useful. And I'll trade useful for useful.
no subject
[He can't even cure himself, he's no doctor, but perhaps... with such direct access to magic? Anything could be possible...]
You are a strange man, eh- [he doesn't know what to call this guy by even] -... your name?
no subject
[Viktor might have actually heard that name before, if he keeps up with any news articles about a group of heroes that fight off darkspawn any time a nest shows up. They're somewhat easy to identify, if only because of the crest they all have somewhere on their body. Though with the suit and coat Bradley has on right now, it's not visible.]
no subject
A pleasure, yes. It's Viktor. I- [he considering this has been strange from the start, but it doesn't mean they can't find some normalcy,] -I should still treat you as a welcome guest. Unexpected or not... Are you hungry? Would you like a tea?
[He moves to stand himself from the bed, hand anchored to the bedframes end to get to his feet. Viktor realizes then he had been readying in bed and already removed his leg brace. A glance is spared towards his crutch, which is more easily in Brad's reach than his own, he gestures for it-]
If you would, please.
no subject
Then he turns to hook an arm around Viktor's waist and drag him down onto the bed.]
It's too late for food or tea. It's time for sleeping.
[He doesn't mean anything lewd at the moment either. He means actual sleeping. Like hell is he making someone cook for him this late at night when he's not starving to death. Brad can wait until morning to eat, sleep is more important right now.]
no subject
He's snappy to joke, because he also wouldn't suspect anything lewd here. What would a man like this have to be interested in him? Scrawny academics can't be his type,]
Hah, haven't had a man drag me back into bed in a while, now... go easy on me.
[this guy is strong, huh? Is that from the magic or just because of his impressive build? More curious question, Viktor slumping against Bradley with still widened eyes, wondering what he'll do or say.]
no subject
Ha! You're a funny one, did you know that?
[But no, his intentions are just for sleeping. Viktor is going to just have to deal with sharing his bed with a buff guy who is clearly physically stronger than wizards in stories ever are. Try not to suffer too much.
Brack will shuck off his coat and toss it aside though, as well as kick off his boots. If he's spending the night then he might as well get comfortable. And he seems perfectly comfortable sharing a bed with a stranger, as he drapes his arm over Viktor with no hesitation.]
Tomorrow I'll show you some magic, 'kay?
no subject
I would like to think so, yes. [he lays his head down, facing himself away from Brad, though not minding the man's lingering arm around him. Strange. It felt like once-upon-a-time to have had men over and in his bed. Something he'd only done as a younger man, during his studies, before catching the attention of Councilor Heimerdinger. Once he became the yordle's assistant, he couldn't be having such... trysts. Not that he had the time to arrange such things, either...]
Try not to sneeze, before then.
no subject
[He means it in jest though. He'll be careful not to sneeze while he sleeps. It's a pain in the ass to summon his things from a random location after a random teleport anyway.
For Brad though, this is comfortable. He's used to sharing a bed with someone, he grew up with too many siblings and not enough beds to go around. If anything, sleeping next to someone helps him sleep better. It keeps the nightmares away. He's already starting to feel drowsy even.]
no subject
Try to let go before you take me along for such a ride.
no subject
I'm just kidding! I know well enough to let go if I'm about to sneeze. I've been dealin' with this for years, it only took one teleporting accident to learn that lesson.
no subject
You can take another with you, though? What are the limits to that-? [Hextech can send entire ships, full of people and supplies, over great distances... The idea of teleporting just himself and the man in his arms feels so intimate,]
no subject
[Unfortunately, Brad doesn't mind talking about himself at all. It's a benefit for Viktor in this case, at least he sounds less like a braggart.]
The only limit I've found is that the thing or person has to be touching me when I sneeze. One time I got three kids because they all grabbed my arms right before we went. It doesn't have to be skin contact either, but at the same time enough layers or objects between will prevent something from being taken. For example, I would end up taking you with me and maybe the blankets, but not the bed.
no subject
[Viktor relaxes again into Brad's arms, leaning back into his chest as he pulls both his arms to fold. A hand lifts to tap at his own lips as he contemplates.]
I do wonder what determines the range. If it could be amplified? [No, Viktor, he doesn't want you to make it worse- he adds, hastily,] -or diminished, of course.
[saved it.]
no subject
[Testing might not be possible, but maybe Viktor would get a kick out of it, who knows.]
1/2
2/2
Viktor's expression crumples down, angry at himself for even considering such a thing. There is work to do. People to help. He cannot think on such petty, flighty fantasies. His dreams are more real and more resiliant than that. Even just a fleeting thought, it annoys him. Profoundly so.
He pulls himself forward, pressing his face into the pillow and wedging a hand beneath it. They should sleep.]
I can't do that, there is too much at stake here. Good night, stranger... [a more biting joke, but it is also reminder. He may know this man's name, but he does not know him.]
no subject
[Brad already thinks Viktor is pretty neat, so he gets a nickname. The nickname might change as things go on though.
He ducks his arm close around Viktor, holding him in but also loose enough to let Viktor out if he wants to slip away.]
G'night.
