love letters + shipping texts meme

  • comment with your character.
  • other people will reply to you.
  • your characters (in a relationship, in love, in some sort of attraction that gravitates around the other, in idk 'love' is a many-splendored thing) are commanicating via: passionate confessions written on parchment, furtive notes scrawled in code, passive-aggressive post-it notes, messages carved in trees, smoke signals, instant messages on space age computers, text messages complete with lovey-dovey pictures, whatever!
  • have fun!

No one told me, it's common sense. Sunglasses don't belong indoors.

Maxwell, did you just put 'common sense' and me into one sentence?
Are you ok?
iobject: (Errrrr okay)

Charming is definitely a word for it.

I usually try to avoid taking on the clients that make my skin crawl. Most of my clients falsely confess to murder instead, so they already come with their own set of headaches.

Well you're alive so I assume you know some of the basics.

Look, Big Daddy-O, I appreciate the sentiment, but if you wanted to see my pretty face, all you had to do was ask.

You wish I would.

Is that a no? :(
I don't trust wishes.
Wouldn't know what to do with them if they came true.

I suppose having such interesting clients at least makes for amusing conversation, when it's not horrible. You don't have to worry about this one, whatever he says about me is irrelevant as long as I get the information I need.
iobject: (Well I guess you could say that)

[personal profile] iobject 2021-01-23 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm told I'm very good at worrying, but I'll try not to if you're sure. I'll let you know if he calls again to say something incriminating. As good as his taste is, I already told him I'm not taking the case.

[Yep, just dropping a little flirting in there. Phoenix is still not entirely sure he's getting through to Connor, but that doesn't mean he should stop trying.]

Speaking of false confessions, do you remember McKenzie Anglewood? Hank got a confession for double homicide from her last week that he didn't feel right about, so he turned the case over to me. I've been looking it over and I think she might be being blackmailed.

Good taste in lawyers, or twink detectives?

[ he might be onto you, smooth talker ]

McKenzie Angelwood. Age 27, caucasian, minor traffic violations but no real serious infractions on her record. The confession did seem forced, but she was adamant in her refusal to speak further. If you know of any possible incentives we could offer her in exchange for revealing the truth, I'm willing to try speaking with her again.

[There's a pause just long enough for Phoenix to make a pleased noise, smiling to himself like a teenage girl. Okay, so maybe things aren't flying over Connor's head quite as much as he feared.]

I plead the fifth. ;)

[Appropriately flirty? Yeah, he thinks that's appropriately flirty. Flirty enough to keep making his interest clear without making things weird if Connor shuts him down. Are androids even interested in humans like that? Is Connor interested in humans like that? Phoenix will never know if he doesn't try!]

I thought it was a little strange how a single mom could afford such high end treatments for her daughter, Chelsea. Chelsea has leukemia. I went digging around and it sounds like her treatment is funded through a charity that belongs to one of the victims' ex-husband.

If you can find a way to guarantee that her daughter's treatment funding can't be tampered with, I think she'd be more honest with you.

[Too bad Shu can't discern that smile over text. He'd treasure it more than any rose (sentient or otherwise). But those pansies are rather eye-catching, especially when they blink their eyes and open their mouths. His stare is nothing less than mesmerized.]

Don't worry too much about it. You succeeded in your objective of getting them to speak for me, yes? I'm quite impressed with that alone.

More importantly, I have a question. What did you mean when you said you have dominion over roses? Do you have your own rose garden?

[ one isn't programmed with the most highly advanced social relations programs to just let flirting and innuendos sail over one's head. the difficult part is determining whether it's well-intentioned or if someone's just teasing him - humans don't flirt with androids. ]

As you wish.

I'm sure we could provide a more than reasonable alternative solution to her child's healthcare needs. Perhaps paying a visit to this charity myself is in order. I can update you on what I find out.

My dearest Miss Bridgerton -

Forgive me for being so presumptuous in my letter, but I haven't been able to stop thinking about our lovely conversation the other night. If it wasn't clear by my hiding away in the drawing room away from most conversation, I do not usually find much enjoyment in events of a certain magnitude.

I did enjoy your company, though. I don't think I've laughed so much or with such ferocity since I was young. You were quite adept at making me forget all about any discomfort I might have felt about being dragged out in front of our esteemed peers.

Truthfully speaking, I did not wish for the night to end.

I am hopeful that I will be fortunate enough to see you again. Should you wish the same, please, tell me a time and a place and I will make it a point to be there with metaphorical bells on.

Respectfully yours,

N. Acosta

[Phoenix has always been the kind of person to go out of his way to be kind and polite even when androids still couldn't do much more than stare blankly at him and say some prerecorded lines. It's just part in parcel with the empathy that makes him such a passionate lawyer in the first place.

So when an android detective came along with soft-spoken wit, a brilliant mind, and a lopsided smile that made Phoenix want to smile too, it didn't seem too weird to him to realize that he was attracted. The only thing that gave him pause was wondering if Connor could say no to humans or maintain any kind of boundaries for the sake of his own comfort--and then androids started campaigning for rights and Phoenix got to watch Connor delicately dress down a detective that was trying to bully him into getting the humans coffee. Phoenix figured that, yeah. Connor can take care of himself just fine. Now the question is just whether or not Connor's interested.]

The impression I got from the paperwork was that this charity isn't a very friendly place for androids. They do a lot of fundraising work with groups lobbying against android rights in Congress. I can come with you just in case?

I could help you with that, knowing what to do once you got your wish.

Then again, you've probably got everything you could want as it is.

[Imagining Noctis' face as he types all of this out makes her smile again, but she immediately knows she'd rather him not call her by any of those, either. He gave her a nickname a long time ago; there's no need to change it.]

No, I believe none of them fit quite as well as 'Luna'. That one is perfect.

[ and if only riddle could see shu's face; when he bids the pansies farewell to go back to tending to the rose bushes, he can't help but be filled with a curious longing. it would be grand if he could take shu by the hand and drag him through wonderland. beyond his dorm, past his house, into the tulgey woods and through the queen's old castle if they could find it (and riddle is certain they would). ]

We have roses everywhere at my mother's house, both sentient and not. They don't necessarily need to be my own roses for me to control them, though.

At the moment, I'm tending to the Rose Maze at my dorm. As prefect, it's my job to take on the duties of the Queen, one of which was maintaining the maze of her castle. I like to change the layout often to keep my residents on their toes.

[ ah, the ever-present dilemma: does he insist on doing the job himself, stand strong in his resolve to prove his personhood among humans while knowing full well his mere existence as an android will be enough for the charity owners to refuse to speak with him, and be unable to proceed further with the case due to some foolish sense of inflated android pride ... or does he suck it up and go with a human escort to ask the questions while he waits patiently in the hallway? ]

It would be more beneficial to the case if you were to accompany me. I'm available at your leisure.

[ at least mr. Wright is among the few humans whose treatment of him and other androids hasn't been rude or abrasive. the number of kind humans that Connor is at least comfortable to be around is small enough to be counted on one hand, hence his hesitation with anything regarding flirtatious behaviour. hell, the murder suspect calling him a twink is more typical to what he expects from humans nowadays. ]

You’re the detective. You tell me when and where to meet you and I’ll be there.

[Phoenix hasn’t ever been in a position like Connor’s. He’s a guy of pale complexion, and people stopped caring about folks not being straight a while ago. But even so, he notices how even now, Connor has a tendency to defer to the humans he’s talking to, like even though he’s smarter and has more authority than most of them, he’s learned that life is just easier if he always lets them think they’re in charge. Phoenix can’t imagine Detective Gavin Reed letting him pick the time and place for his investigation.

Maybe Phoenix is reading too much into it, but he still doesn’t like the idea of giving Connor any less respect than he’d give a human detective, even if Connor doesn’t demand it. Especially considering it must be bad enough to have to have human escorts to just do his job.]

[ that's different. he's more accustomed to being told the time and place, following along instead of making the decisions. so it seems mr. Wright does have the correct assumptions, and that's probably why he's as good a lawyer as he is.

but if it really is up to him, it only takes a moment to file through his schedule (not terribly busy, since the number of detectives willing to work with him are few and far between,) and he can determine an appropriate meeting time. ]

If you'd be willing to meet me at the DPD this afternoon at 2:00PM, I can provide you with an update on the case as we know it, so you will have all the necessary information to confront the charity runners about their potential blackmailing efforts afterward. I don't imagine they will be a heavily armed office, but it is possible they'll be attempting intimidation tactics to prevent anyone from prying further. I'm sure it's nothing you're not already used to.
