Hiro Hamada | Disney's Big Hero 6 | ota
one
[If he's late, Shiro's only late but a minute or two but he says it more as warning that he's coming than anything else as he pulls himself up onto the roof and walks over to sit down next to Hiro. He's got a pack across his shoulder and he reaches in to pull out a soda and offer it. Still cold.
Shiro might have just finished up his pilot training at the Garrison and have a full schedule ahead of him but he hasn't forgotten one of his closest friend's little brother. Or what that little brother likes to drink that you can't get in San Fransokyo.]
Did I miss any?

And once he sees the soda that's being offered to him, the phone promptly slips into his pocket. There's a grin on his face as he takes it, uttering a soft "Nice" under his breath before popping it open and taking a quick sip.]
Nah, nothing yet. You're good. [He then settles in again, leaning back a little and looking up toward the sky.] All the sites are predicting that we won't be seeing anything for another couple of minutes.

[He settles in next to Hiro, shrugging the pack off his shoulder to set it between them and unzipping it the rest of the way to reveal some snacks and a few more drinks wrapped to keep them cold. Perk of being an astronaut. You know how to pack food to last. Shiro makes it a point to remember important things and Tadashi's brother qualifies and then some. The snacks are all kinds he knows Hiro likes. He leans back on an elbow with a sigh, wincing as muscles in his back protest and then settle. And he - finally - starts to feel himself relax.]
No moon tonight. Perseids should give us a good show. What total count of falling stars are we trying to beat this time?

[Only then does he look back at Shiro with a mischievous grin, eyes gleaming with challenge. For one of Tadashi's nerdier friends, Shiro's also pretty much the coolest guy ever. He can't remember exactly when they started this tradition or why, but it's always a fun time.]
Unless you think you can't keep up with that many.

He should probably apologize to Aunt Cass the next time he sees her for that...
But that's part of Meteor Night. It just wouldn't be the same without the right kind of soda and snacks. Which reminds him to fish a soda for himself out of the bag. That should last him the rest of the night. He makes a snorting noise as he sits up to pop it open and gestures with the hand that's holding it at the boy next to him.]
I can count you under the table, Short Stuff. You want to make that a bet?
no subject
I only bet when it involves actual money, you know. [And there's that mischief in his eyes again, clearer than ever.] Still up for it?
no subject
Money? Really? That's the best you can do? [He leans back on an elbow, stretching out his legs - and then sits upright with a snap and a point of his finger as the first fast flash of light streaks the horizon for a moment and vanishes. The smile that spreads over Shiro's face is young and delighted and innocent for a moment. And then he hums.] Money's not worth making a bet over.

It's not the best I can do, but it comes in handy. [He leans back a little, one arm propping him upright while the other still clings to his soda can. His gaze is glued on the stars, waiting for more of them to go streaking across the night sky.]
What would you rather bet over?

Something interesting. Something worth winning. Like - if I lose, I get you full access to some training in the Garrison flight simulator. Or some tech talk time and a peek under the hood at the new drive they're developing to get our team all the way out to Kerberos.
